Okay comrades, this is our first official blog post. New waters here guys, so any help in keeping the attention span from cruising around like that rogue plane in Washington over the summer would be groovy.
In the interests of many who prefer a "brief description" over a "fully illustrated novella," Team Machete had a whisper of an existence for a brief period over a decade ago. Years passed as we lived separate lives and led separate adventures, then we tripped over each other again.
The dormant bond exploded back to where it should have gone in the first place:
Two one way tickets to Mexico, an engagement ring bought off a dealer who used his jewelry shop as a front (one can only imagine what else his carpet bag held), a promise to love and cherish recorded by a beloved family member and JOP in a town hall women's bathroom, a home made in the Caribbean surrounded by some of the best people EVER, natural disasters and near death experiences sending us back state-side, a cross-cross-cross country trek with new jobs and new friends at each stop, shoulder-season travels world wide, and the always inevitable response of "Why not?!?"
As we figure this whole blog-thing out we'll be adding ton of pictures. We probably have over three thousand (the equivalent of far too many of the disposable cameras that everyone takes to the bathroom while the bride and groom are cutting the cake) from our last shoulder excursion (32 days, three countries, both sides of the US, and some islands thrown in for good measure), so we'll probably stream them in as teasers here and there instead of one huge avalanche. Will that keep you tuned in?
Soooo... while we're committed for quite a few months mixing only mini-travel and work to fund the next big-travel, we have to ask. Where should we go now?
